LOVE MAKEUP? I DO…
I don't always find it that easy to make friends. I have a very sick sense of humour and it gets me into trouble sometimes … often!
In makeup shopping - ie - makeup shops i find it even harder to not only make friends but get good service.
If i can order a product from America and have it delivered in 3 days then i bloody well don't expect to wait a week for products that are only 2 hours away by car! I also expect not only good service but friendly polite service.
I came across http://www.love-makeup.co.uk in the beginning of this year when i was looking for OCC cosmetics in the UK. Since then i've not only shopped with this company i've made friends with the lady that owns it - Sue.
Sue makes me laugh. She is funny, honest, understanding and the service is amazing (did i mention funny!).
I now use love-makeup for most of my makeup orders (apart from KETT). Why am i telling you this? well …

About finding friends: I have the same "problem", but when I meet other photographers, makeup artists and models it is SO easy to talk. That is the only time I feel confinden. =) But do NOT put me alone in a bar then I wouldn´t talk to anyone.. =)

I am your student....and you just saved me the next hundred plus dollars (on ebay) for another ounce of Creme de la Mer! I trust you. It's the first time I'm just going off it.

BTW, I've had professional makeup done several times: I am very fair with almost black eyes. I always tell the artist that most foundation turns orange on my skin...no blue shadow etc...I open my eyes to get your "funny" vid with Mandy. Last time, I gave him a big tip, he said, ah, you liked it! I told him, with a smile...he'd really helped me. I have definitely decided on a closed coffin! He wasn't amused. But you would have been...I'd love to know what you think of Armani foundation and Chanel Lumiere and YLS Touche d'Eclat..I bought the Armani...seems good...real skin...but it's a sexual-intercoursing fortune! Just got some MAC cream eyeshadows...have been addicted to Chanel...well, packaging forever... You never mention them...I wish you continued success. You are a kind, generous and thoughtful teacher. I appreciate your consideration of people of colour, even though I'm alabaster. Well, so are you...so we see eye to eye. Screw your haters. I think you are a fine person. ReplyDeleteI find cosmetics sales reps, for the most part, to be snarky or haughty unless I'm dressed to the nines with all my jewelry on. Otherwise, I'm seen as a second-rate wannabe who needs to be shooed out of the store as quickly as possible. Puh-lease. We women can be real bitches, can't we? I only patronize where I feel the reps respect their customers and treat them well because of their love for cosmetics and artistry. Otherwise, they can kiss my bloody arse.

ReplyDeleteI was recently snottily told by a NARS 'artist' that their glosses were 'higher end' than MAC's. This was immediately after I mentioned to her I was heading to the MAC counter & didn't feel like dropping $30 on lipgloss when I could get 4 NARS glosses online for $39.
ReplyDeleteThis miserable, snotty bitch had the audacity to say this to me as she stood there with not a speck of gloss on her lips, her foundation was caked on & she just generally looked like crap. So I asked her if their products were so 'high end', why the hell did she look so skanky? There she stood with her mouth open and finally said 'there's no need to be rude'. Who was rude when they tried to make me feel like a beggar because I preferred to buy from MAC?
You're not the only one who has problems with cosmetics stores/counters, believe me. If you as a professional get treated like crap, imagine how we peons who do this as a hobby are treated. I can totally understand your frustration. And yes, even more so when you're told that you have to wait weeks to get something you can order online & have in your hands in days. Sephora has been the latest shop to piss me off. I've stopped purchasing anything from the dirty buggers.

what can I do to not only coverup/disguise but also deflate puffy eyes. My eyes are and always have been fairly prominent in my head, but in my old age (65) my upper lids especially are puffy and push my eyelashes down. When I wake up in the morning they are balloonish. Bottoms, too, but not as bad. I've heard to use hemoroid cream, etc. but I would like your ideas because you obviously know what you are talking about. I really love your youtube channel!!
